Description: PRE-SAVE ON SPOTIFY - band.link/MattSpotifyFollow Instagram - band.link/MattInstagram Facebook - band.link/MattFacebook Holy shit, boys and girls. Holy. Effing. Shiznits. Okay okay okay okay, okay. Okay? Okay. It feels weird to start promo this early before the actual release (July 5), but it’s what all the blogs tell me to do, so fuck it, HYPE MACHINE ENGAGED! The Hype Machine, for those of you not in the business, is the machine that creates the hype. Think of it like the petrol for your car. Or like the engine in your car. Actually, maybe it’s more the car itself. I guess the car is the machine, and the petrol is the fuel. But then the engine is a machine too, which also needs fuel. But then a car without an engine wouldn’t use fuel. Fuck. The petrol (you) runs the machine, which is the car (the music), which is controlled by the engine (me), which is also a machine. Look, I’ll be honest with you, I know nothing about cars. I am a machine though… A Hype Machine! GET IT GET IT GET IT! Man, this bad boy has been a long time coming. It’s the first single release (which means more is coming, so get double-hyped for that too), and I am so pumped to finally be able to share it. I’ll go into it more later, but this whole album process has taken about 5 years of working like a dawg. 5 years! In dawg years that’s like 20 years! So basically I’ve been working on this since I was 10. Actually, you know what, in a super indirect way, that might not be totally untrue. Anyway, it’s taken ages and I’ve done my best on each step of the way to make sure it’s the best it can be, so it feels great to get it out of my computer and into ze world. This song specifically is 100% one of my favourites. You can get a feel for it from the little teaser above, but I guess I would call it like… Pop? Maybe with like a hint of classic funk, or jazz? Musically, I’d say it’s somewhere between “groovy as fuck” and “I’m taking my shirt off in this club!” It’s all real instruments, and real musicians recorded together. It was super important to me that it actually feels like a real band, and that we capture the human qualities and magic that comes from a live performance. ‘I Think We Should Date’ features some of the best musicians I have ever met. I’m talking real deal, psycho beasts. The result is straight up bananas, with each part having its own soul and breath. The masters of the craftsters on this track are: Daniel Hayles - Keys Blain Fitzpatrick - Bass Lauren Ellis - Drums Katie Mccarthy-Burke - Backing Vocals Bryn van Vliet - Sax Ben Hunt - Trumpet Matt Mulholland - Lead vocals and Guitar Recorded and Mixed - James Goldsmith Mastered - Randy Merrill I need to save some words and thoughts for the rest of the hype machine’s journey, so I’ll leave it there. Don't forget to pre-save it on Spotify if that's something you do! Look after yourself, and stay awesome xx Matt
